Canadian SI Advisory Committee

The Canadian Supplemental Instruction Advisory Committee is a diverse group of SI supervisors, coordinators, and managers who support the Canadian National Centre for SI to assess needs and identify priorities. From initiation, the committee’s collaborative projects have helped to transform the Canadian Centre for SI in meaningful ways, including collaborations on webinars, research, grants, services for the SI community, and resources for new and established SI programs, supervisors, and leaders.

The committee was established in late 2019 to identify priorities for the Canadian SI community. The work of the committee quickly changed in 2020 to support our region’s transition from mostly in-person sessions to mostly online due to COVID-19 restrictions on Canadian campuses. Since then, we have focused on working collaboratively to achieve the goals set out in our strategic plan.

The responsibilities of the SI committee members include:

  • Convening, facilitating, and attending meetings each semester.
  • Leading small, manageable projects in alignment with our strategic plan. Projects include:
    • website development
    • mentorship program
    • conference mobilization
    • professional development for SI supervisors
    • Canadian SI scholarship
  • Advising the Canadian National Centre on emerging issues and priorities to achieve our strategic objectives.
  • Contributing 5 hours per month to committee work.

The committee is made up of a diverse group of SI supervisors representing many stakeholder interests including:

  • New and veteran supervisors and managers
  • New and well-established SI programs
  • Regional representation from across Canada
  • College- and university-based Committee members
